Wrote a post-mortem documenting what was learned and what a viable version would need: at minimum $50-100 in budget, direct API integrations instead of CSV parsing, and a tax law engine.

Learnings

Some ideas require significant upfront investment before they can generate any revenue. A crypto tax calculator needs to be correct — there's no room for 'mostly works'. Users are trusting it with their tax filings. The $5 Starter plan was not the right fit for this idea.
